exhibition and awards evening

something wonderful happened to me last night. I went to the NMIT 2010 Design, Drafting and Interior Fittings Exhibition and Awards night. I have never been to one before and I really wanted to go to see what it was like and to see some of the high standards of work. I really had another reason to go too, my teacher, Julia said that she would have our assignments marked and we would also get our end of year result. My first priority was to get my portfolio back and then I would make my way to the exhibition. But my portfolio was not there, as you can imagine, I wasn't very happy. I thought she may have left it at home or worse still, lost it!!!!!
but to my very pleasant surprise my portfolio was being exhibited, my work had been chosen as one of the top two students!!!! I left the exhibition walking on cloud nine.........and I finished the year with a High Distinction, what more could a girl ask for???????
My Green Living kitchen plan was inspired by famous chef and Restaurateur Kylie Kwong, and her passion for cooking for family and friends, whilst only using the freshest produce available. I was lucky enough to see her speaking at the Abbotsford Convent with my good friend Lisa.
She also believes that the kitchen should be the centre piece of every home, and its not just the meal that is important but the whole process, growing, sourcing and serving.
I think it is time to put my feet up and enjoy the festive season! xxoo

that's it, zippo, over and out............

well, well, well, I have finished my first year of Interior Design, this year has been a dream come true, I have loved every minute of the course (well, most anyway!!), I have learnt so much, met some truly inspiring people and even made some new friends (yes you Leah!). I would have to say that the work load in this course is horrendous, I have seen lots of people drop out along the way and some near breakdowns. If you really don't love it or have a passion for it, I can see how you could not finish it. I am only 2 subject down out of 14, still a long way to go, but such a big milestone for me, who knows what 2011 will bring!!

take a look at my new project..............

Ivy and Piper

love the colours used in this window display!
hello everyone, well I am very excited to find this new on-line mag, that features my "right now" favorite interior designer Anna Spiro from Brisbane - I love her work and how she relates to colour - I am constantly inspired by her blog and her Interiors store. In fact I have made contact with her and requested an interview, so fingers crossed, I would love to get inside her head!

colour coding your bookshelf

Are you willing to give this a try? Call me a little obsessed, but I think a bookshelf organised by colour is far more visually appealing than one that is not, don't worry if you can't find what you are looking for, at least your bookshelf will look great!!!! go on give it a try, you won't be disappointed.............

magazine covers

today we have been hibernating at home, whilst one of my little boys fights off a virus/gastro! It's so nice to stay at home all day and just do all the things you need to do to get organised and back in control, all with the TV going and no mother guilt!!!!

I always find it amazing how the cover of a magazine can steer me to buy it or not - are you the same? Sometimes the cover is so amazing that I must have it and then there are the covers that make no connection with me at all and i find myself leaving it on the shelf. Anyway, today whilst I am nursing my little boy I am inspired to create based on this Vogue cover which I love....I am going to call this "cream with bling!"

school update

busy working on my last assignment, I have progressed a little since my last post. I am much happier with my mood board and I am about to start on the floor plan for the kitchen. I hope to do a lot more this week, but for now here is the completed mood board - it should give you a feel for what is to come........
