You really had to see this place to believe it!!!! On Friday Flip and Belles and I had a date to meet an address in Windsor right here in Melbourne. It was down a one way street, surround by lots of single fronted houses that we came across The Design Files Open House - I was SUPA excited to see what Lucy Feagins had whipped up, and as usual nothing was left to chance - it was amazing. We got there right on opening and the crowds were building - It looked like a converted warehouse, beautifully decked out and chockers with stock from local artists - all available to buy!! I was on a mission, I have been lusting over some art and thought this just might be the place to find that special piece.  The I fell in love with this - A framed Vintage poster - It was hanging so beautifully in bedroom 2 - the kids room - the colours got me straight away - I was in LOVE, but then I saw the red sticker next to the price - the dreaded red sticker - it was SOLD!!
Well some things are not meant to be - but the key to this is - I know where to source these from, right here in Melbourne and how amazing would this be in a kids bedroom - It was huge, striking and really quite affordable!!!!
So many people, so much great stuff and I got to bump into Lucy herself, I felt like I already knew her, I just had to say hi, of course she didn't know who I was, we had chatted before but only through email and of course I madly follow her blog - she was so so lovely - very humble and just is amazement at what she had achieved - she thanked everyone for coming- very approachable and so easy going!

here are some of my favorite pics from the day:
the cash registers were a buzz - people everywhere buying!!!!!!
more lovely colour hanging in the kids room
Marrimekko decorations hanging outside in the paved area
Flip and Bells looking at those decorations in ore!
more beautiful artwork - loved the framing!
gorgeous Mark Tuckey Christmas tree with groovy heart decorations
Jardan chair and stool

congratulations Lucy and Team, what an inspiring day!

Chalk Talk

Gorman and Rachel Castle

hello peeps, not much posting this week, but still lots going on behind the scenes.

I took a visit to the Jardan showroom this week - checked out their superb furniture in the flesh - it is heaven, and I could have taken soooo many things home. I did manage to stay focused and decided on a chair for a client - the fabric I have chosen is really striking and after many weeks searching, I think, just maybe I have found the right chair - I hope they are going to like it too. I will reveal more about this job later, once all the details have been put to bed and the client is happy.

You may also remember this earlier post about indoor greenery - well this week I went in search for some loveliness for another job I am working on. And although I did not find the exact plant I was after I did manage to find something that would work. Still on the look out for a Fiddle Fig if anyone can help.

I also stumbled across a new retail concept called the Happy Lab - loved the color blocking of all their treats which are all preservative and additive free - I bought two test tubes for Xmas pressies......check them out, they wont disappoint!

and if this doesn't make you smile, well I don't know what will - Rachel Castle has teamed up with Gorman for some limited edition pieces - saw them at Gorman Doncaster and they are to die for......so as the punch line goes ......put the love in the coconut, I will for the sheer love of color!

and lastly this week I worked on some E decorating concepts for my business - this is an exciting opportunity for the future and I hope to be explaining more about this soon.

happy weekend all, if you get time take a look at this e mag that I only discovered today, its a little gem....

see not much, but lots.....

Friday's Chalk Talk....

welcome to my very first Chalk Talk post - this is where I will share with you what's been happening with GOLD CHALK during the week, a bit of an update session one might say! xx

Jarden Archie

This week I have been busily working on a costing for a client - getting in quotes, talking to tradesmen, hunting down swatches and deciding on colours. I ventured into the city to see some products and fell in love with this chair for the client, the style is relaxed but also sophisticated, I also love the modern 70's flavour.

I also got the pictures back from a recent photo shoot at my place - very excited about these, a friend of mine did them, she is an amazing photographer and I can't wait to share her work with you all, stay tuned for that one.

This week I also finished my last assignment for school, one mood/theme presented three different ways, electronically, tear sheet( which I love) and one drawn!!!!! the drawing was pretty scary but surprisingly I really enjoyed this part and understand how this can be a very worthwhile tool developing. I present these at school on Monday night - I will share the boards with you all next week.

must run peeps, I have a presentation to do and still need to finalise some last minute costings. Have a great weekend. x
