ChaLK tAlK - weekly update

just a few things to cover this week in ChaLK taLK, but some serious exciting stuff on the horizon, that I can hardly wait to share with you all!!!
but, Firstly lets do - ShOP tALk
I love getting out and about, and I am always on the look out for something a little bit different! This shop (although located in Byron Bay) ticked all my boxes! It's a lifestyle, art and fashion shop owned by incredibly talented artist Jai Vasicek. It has a collection of eclectic, cool, global pieces including Jai’s incredible art works that he produces both on canvas and tiles. His unique tiles fill the walls, made up of iconic images and photographs. If you are planning a trip make sure you take the time to visit Ahoy Trader

Secondly - lets take a look at my property of the week.......

loved stepping inside this one, my favorite room was the main bedroom , with its almost mezzanine like space- it had loads of natural light. The angles and design of this townhouse were both simplistic and stylish - perfect for a young groovy couple!!!!!!

visit it here for further details!

here's a peek at what I am loving at the moment - I am right into tiles and adding a feature that is just that little bit different - this image from The Atlantic - in Byron Bay is a perfect example of how tiles can transform a space - they look so effective used on the island bench - Love it!

today I lusted over this Pantone Stationary set, AGAIN!! so, I decided to buy it. So Groovy and full of colour, my favorite thing this week!

Lastly, I think this is really cool - I call it a drinks trolley - Swoon! so cool and perfect for mixing up my latest favorite drink of choice - The Margarita! - fabulous recipe here!

Cheers all - have a great weekend xx

ChaLK tALk - before and after........THE NEW BOUDOIR!!!!

before before before before before

been working on this little project, "THE BEDROOM MAKEOVER!!", it's taken a little while to pull together, but here it is all finished and much loved I might add.

- this was the client's Brief:

"modernism my bedroom, make it feel warm and inviting whilst maintaining an air of elegance - it's a big room and so, we need to make it feel loved without over doing it! I want something that makes me want to spend time in here! Currently I do not like this room very much!!!!!!"

And the result is this:

Shop the LOOK
1. For Like Ever Poster from here
2. cushion and linen from Bed Bath and table the works
3. Bed head - EBAY
4. Bed from Myer
5. Replica Componbili from Matt Blatt
6. Moroccan Pouffe from here
7. bench at end of bed from here
8. throw and white vase from here
9. Florence Broadhurst shades from here

some golden rules for this makeover!
not all wood types need to match, ie light dark etc - mix it up!
spend money on cushions - they take a bed/lounge to a new level! they are make or break in my books!!!
start with a neutral base and add a highlight colour - repeat this colour in other rooms of the house so that everything flows: in this case PINK! , this colour can be changed later if you need an update! Yellow, Green, Red could all work equally well.

cHALK tALK - Letterboxes

over sized letterbox available at Lump - right here in Melbourne

With all the houses I am lucky enough to work on, it does amaze me that the humble letterbox/entry often gets forgotten in the mix. First impressions really do count and as for so many of our homes our letterbox is often the first introduction to our house! Neglected letter boxes are a big no no and no letterbox at all is even worse! Your street number should be clearly visible and offer a hint of what is to come. Don't forget about the detail - A beautiful home deserves a well thought of letter box.

Here are some of my favorites

shop these boxes from here, here and here

Offspring - cHaLk tALk

OK, so it appears that we are ALL just slightly obsessed with Offspring and Nina, and whilst most of you are looking at what Nina is wearing, I am looking at her apartment, and dissecting every part of it! I love the Industrial/farmhouse vibe of her new abode, but I must say that I do prefer her previous apartment. The new place is actually a converted warehouse in Collingwood. It's very rustic and far more casual than her previous place which I featured here.

love the weathered front door and olive trees

Nina's bedroom, linen from Nancy Bird

love the cute side lamps and she has the same

artwork from her last apartment.

farm house kitchen - really different from apartment one

kitchen dining from mezzanine above

the living room off the kitchen

this is one of my favorite rooms - the real owners and this house were featured here, by The Design Files - that is the owners original artwork behind Nina! - this room has not really been changed for the show - wonder where they go whilst they are filming???? who cares really they are probably receiving loads of cash!

this is a cHAlk tALk not to be missed!!!!

wow, cHAlk tALk has gone mad this week, so many things to share!!!!! - I am the ultimate real estate stalker and look who's selling their home this week - Yes it's Nina's Apartment from Off Spring!!!!!!! no wonder it caught on fire in the show - someone need to move out pronto for the owners to sell!!!!! Look at the magnificent dining table and chairs - to die for!!

check it out in detail here.......

now if that wasn't enough, another one of my favorite gals has also got her home on the market - Jane Hall - this woman loves colour and her two bedroom Victorian home in it's prime location is a real winner in my books!

check it out in all it glory here

ChaLK tALk - see, now you know why............

so sorry for the lack of posts recently, I would like to blame my sudden gush of work and also returning back to night school after what seems like a very long break, but I wont blame either of those two things.......... I will just apologise and hope you are all still there!!!!!!!

in the last couple of weeks I have been on THE most amazing ride of my life, I have been styling this beautiful home for sale. This week it all came together, weeks of planning, organising and juggling has all paid off - "THE" house is now ready! here are a few snaps I took from my iphone yesterday. This really is an amazing house with great bones - I loved the artwork I choose for this house - it really just worked and the pink room that I orginally thought would be a nightmare to work with turned out as one of my favorites!!!! It really is quite amazing what the right furniture and accessories can do to a house.
