Gold Chalk's must visit list of stores

well, here it is , my list of must visit stores in Melbourne (part one) - if you live in Melbourne and have not been to see these stores, then get your booty off the couch and start crossing them off your must visit list - you won't be sorry, but you will be if you miss out on them!!!!!!
It's so therapeutic crossing things off your to do list and last week I got to cross these little beauties of my must visit list - some for the first time, others, just because I love going back to them to see whats new!!!

First stop- The Woodsfolk in Hawthorn, this is a fairly new addition to Church Street - the store is full of gift ware and just stuff you want to stuff into a bag and replicate at home - I loved the bed set up with Kip and Co bedlinen, they have a great range of groovy cushion and jewellery.  Whilst you are here - cross over the road and visit Maiike, a beautiful for hand made children's products and ladies apparel.

Next stop - the newly refurbished Crate Expectations - colour everywhere, lots and lots of eye candy, do make sure your wallet is full, this place will tempt the fussiest of purchases - I spied lots of my favorite suppliers, and all in the one place - what more could you ask for?????!!!!!
this couch is the highlight of my visit - i love it!!!! such a show stopper piece!
beautiful bags, jewellery and cushions EVERYWHERE you look!

while you are here, just pop around the corner and drop into Hut13 (it's hidden behind a peach coloured door!) and Market ImportsWhile HUT 13 is mostly a homewares and gift store, it is also a space where local and aspiring artists and makers exhibit their goods. With each visit you’re sure to see something new, in fact the last time I was there, I saw a piece of art from The Block, and affordable too!

Next, I decide to drop into Turner and Lane - again, this is a newish store that is fitted out with beautiful pieces for friends, family and the home. When I dropped in, the store was merchandised by colour - fabulous idea - lots to see in this store, printed pillows, body products, kitchenware and coffee table books, but it is the kind of store you could visit once a week and find something different each time.

The philosophy behind Turner & Lane is to inspire living spaces that do not necessarily have to match. Rather, they should be interesting, reflective of your own personality and filled with a variety of colour and style in surrounding yourself with things that you love - you must visit!!!!

So many places to visit, so little time..... this is why you need to create a list and cross them off as you go, I am going to finish with a couple of more of my haunts and then stay tuned for part two!!! yes there are more great stores you have to see!!

Montebello Emporium is in Balwyn, its a lifestyle shop that offers, fashion, accessories, things for the home and my most favorite thing - they stock Megan Park accessories and homewares - visit her to lust over some great pieces and when you feel the need to splurge on yourself!! Megan Park is one of my favorite designers - I love visiting her store in Malvern too. It has some beautiful lighting installed above their counter - drop by when you are visiting Hut13.

On the way home, do stop by Issa in Ivanhoe, I have posted about this store before here - it has the most divine things, again really worth a visit, I could browse this store for hours - sometimes I feel like a stalker, but the owner is a local girl and she doesn't seem to mind, shop here for inspiration, that special gift for someone or for a spoil me present for yourself!

Lastly, for all you locals, you must visit this cafe/store/ - if you do nothing else, meet your girlfriends here for a coffee and some yummy lunch, it stocks a great range of gifts and one off pieces - it has a small fashion range also and my favorite - beautiful jewellery, i often pop in for a take away coffee and browse their wares while I am waiting!

get the look - Nina's space on Offspring

Do you recognise this DOOR????
EVERYONE wants to be like Nina!! Women everywhere go crazy for her fashion sense and if you're lucky enough to stock something she wares in the show - get ready for a stampede!!! Whilst most people follow the show for a glimpse of what she is wearing - I love watching the show to see how the rooms have been dressed and styled!!! Her look is very relaxed, a farmhouse in suburbia, with an industrial feel. Not much has changed for season four so far in terms of her bedroom, so if you, like many, love Nina, here is a little bit about her interior style!

Nancy Bird fish scale bedlinen features in the main bedroom- only if you feel the need to splurge!!! I am going to try and hunt down a similar look for a Steal - stay tuned!!!

I love the lamp on Nina's bedside table -a house warming gift from Darcy! shop it here The art in her bedroom is by Rosetta Santucci

Keep your eye out for a few other favorites appearing in this seasons episodes, art from Ali Mc Nabney Stevens & Lumiere Art & Co. I am going to keep my eyes peeled on the future episodes - stay tuned for more Offspring news!

lastly did any of you catch a glimpse of this little number on Nina's shoulder last night - both of them were inseparable!!!! It's by Wizzer & Whyte - I'm trying to hunt it down like every other woman in Australia, no doubt!!

Styling You is a fabulous website that follows Nina's fashion and shows you how to get her look - check it out! It's great!!!
oooh, one last thing, in the past I have been lucky enough to work beside this very talented lady - what a privilege - well, news is she is dressing the set of Offspring, if I know anything about Julia - there will be lots of colour coming in future episodes - I cant wait to stay tuned to see her magic!!!

Chalk Talk

OK, today we are going to get straight into it with this must have item for your home office, not only is it affordable & chic, it's practical!!!!! - my other half loves practical!! - I have seen it popping up everywhere and it is my product of the week!!!!
priced at $279 - available at IKEA
it looks fabulous and two side by side would be ideal! It also comes in Black, but for me, I much prefer the white.
Most of this week I have spent working on my Master Plan concept - I have asked a friend of a friend to trial the concept for me and in return I have offered her a free Master Plan kit on a room of her choice in her home.  She has chosen her Living/dining room.  She has filled out my detailed questionnaire and we have conversed via email several times getting all the details together.  Mind you, I have never seen her house, I am not sure of her style - in fact I really do not know a lot about her on a personal level at all! The whole process has been fabulous and I have enjoyed every minute of it (hope she has too!!) but there is one problem.......after completing her proposed floor plan (to scale) and her concept boards - which I am truly in love with!!! and compiling her shopping list, I cant stop looking at them - I really do not want to part with them! But of course I will and I will move on to my next project and fall madly deeply in love with that one too! It's a tough job but somebody has to do it!!!
Next week my I am getting my Master Plan kit professionally photographed - with all the details - may even be a little (or big!) give away on the BLOG soon - stay tuned.......very exciting!
This week I also got to re-visit a home that I had completed a colour plan on earlier in the year - It looks amazing,  not everything is completely finished yet but what has been done is super impressive, this lady had a very keen eye for detail although she does not give herself much credit for it.  It has been so lovely working with her and her husband, they really should be congratulated, its not easy living through a major renovation, is it!!!!

On my Radar this week......

these beautiful cushions from Lumiere Art + Co
lovely colours in this print - would love this in my home!

more wonderful office spaces - I love the "K" space with the Tom Dixon Copper Lights - a real winner for me.

Love love love

apparently - this is the new craze in photography of interiors - shot from above?????

lastly, I am super jealous of this stylist who is making her dream come true - actually I say, good on her! Everyone knows my favorite designer is Abigail Ahern, she is based in the UK and has just started taking design classes - Jane Frosh who is a super stylist in her own right wants to get to one of her Master Classes badly, so badly that she has started an on line campaign - you can read about it here and donate - its all about following your dreams, isn't it, I bet she gets there.................good luck Jane xx

hope you all enjoy your weekend xx
