project update

top: Matrix Glass Splashback, bottom: floor tile

colour plan
Pic does not do the colour plan any justice!

I have been working on this colour plan for a little while now, trying to get the right balance and mix and also using some of the things I have been learning at work. In the initial brief, I was asked to work with the existing paint and trim colours of the house (internal) and the client also showed a preference for white cabinetry in the kitchen as she would like to keep some of the existing white appliances. She also has quite a bit of "beech" furniture in the room. This is what I have come up with, hope she likes it. Ooohh, by the way did I mention that "she" is my mother in law who is currently holidaying overseas - lucky her. I hope to present her my ideas when she gets back........
Some of the things that I really like about this colour plan is the Matrix Glass tile splashback and the Wilsonart Laminate bench top in Desert Oasis, both really add some texture and modernity to the space without over doing it.

"THE" bathroom!

it's taken a little while to get to now- lots of looking, reviewing, sourcing and most importantly, learning, but here is the end result. Remembering that the client wanted a really moody and earthy space that incorporated some timber for warmth, but also needed to have lots of light......

I have decided to use this 300mm x 300mm taupe porcelain tile for the floor and extend it up one wall - behind and around the bath and walk in shower. It will also be used to build a vertical wall column in the shower which is lined with stainless steel shelves to hide each of the family members shampoos and soap - love that idea!

The rest of the walls in the bathroom will be tiled with an off white matt 300mm x 600mm tile - this will be used vertically since the height of the walls are 2700mm, these tiles will help widen the room since the ceilings are quite high. They will also allow lots of natural light to be reflected around the room.

A custom built floating vanity will be used with a 30mm Caesar Stone top in Ginger. there will lots of draws to cater for the storage of the family.

I have also decided to keep the tiolet space seperate - this will be tiled with the same taupe tile again, The back wall of the toilet will have a gloss taupe tiled feature wall - this tile is featured on the sample board above.

Something wonderful happened to me on the weekend!

I am not sure if you would say this is my first - but certainly, i have taken this one quite seriously, I finished the colour scheme for Darren and Kate's little getaway, complete with interior and exterior colours and mood boards, and guess what???? They really liked it!! I wasn't sure they would but I thought the colours I had chosen were really fresh and airy, just what was needed. I am really pleased with the result - hope you like it too.
