Laminex
It would be fair to say that Laminex is a household name, probably not as popular as it was in the 70's and 80's, particularly with the introduction of stone bench tops, and many copy companies. I was interested to see what was happening at Laminex, so a couple of weeks ago I decided to take a visit to their Airport West showroom. I had read lots of brochures on the different ranges and their stuff looks really edgy - after all they do have Judy Dymond consulting to them. I was lucky enough to work with Judy whilst at Myer, she was the Colour and Trend forecaster for the Company, she was a very eclectic lady who always wore lots of bright red lipstick (that's how I remember her!).She was (and still is) very talented at what she does and now she is helping push Laminex in the right direction, by targeting ranges at their core customer. Anyway, back to the visit, I have to say that I was not impressed at all by their showroom, it really did not project anything like their brochures or website. For a company that is pushing a fashion forward front, their showroom really let them down. My favorite part of the visit was collecting lots of sample chips that I hope to use on some of my very own clients one day. I do like some of things they are doing, for example; their metaline splashback range, aluminium framed doors, the diamond gloss surfaces and their new veneer range.

I don't mind the splashback - hopefully we'll do our kitchen soon.....
