to chevron, or not to chevron! that is the question, so it seems

remember this shot I was lucky enough to work on with Heather? Well it appears that this photo is the go to shot when referring to Chevron stripes. Just yesterday I saw it featured here and here - looks like chevron stripes are here to stay - haven't tried them at my place yet but I am thinking a chevron cushion would be a great addition. Right now I am loving Bonnie and Neil - check out their on line store.

Chalk Talk

On My Radar - Layered rugs and mini rugs on chairs (sheep skin!) - I think we are going to be seeing lots of this - I really like it, particularly mixing brights with naturals.

this is the first chalk talk for 2012, it's been a busy start to the year so far and as usual I have lots of plans for my business and where I want to take it - lets just say that patience isn't one of my finer points - I want everything NOW!!!!!
This week I have been working with lots of tradespeople to get some jobs started - The primary school reception area I am working on is coming along famously - all the planning is finally starting to pay off - the plasters have come and gone - the cabinet maker has double checked all measurements, deposits have been paid for furniture - painters have started to weave their magic and the new carpet has arrived - very exciting - should be finished end Feb, not quite in time for school to start, but most of the messy work will be complete. I will post some before and after shots once it is complete.
This week I also debriefed a colour plan to a couple renovating their Kitchen, Laundry and Bathroom - The Clients loved the tiles I choose and we tweaked the Kitchen plan on site to ensure all parties were happy - the end result is going to be amazing - one of my favorite parts of this colour plan is the glass splashback in the kitchen - I choose a metallic/pearl colour from Dulux called Gardenia Frost - its going to work perfectly with the Quantum Quartz New Diamond White 40mm bench top.

This week I have also been thinking about my blog - I want to make it a bit easier to navigate and to explain the services I offer - so I am busy working on that. I have also been looking at lots of blogs which has lead me to this:

On the Radar
I plan on keeping my eyes peeled and my feelers out in an attempt to let you know what I think is going to be hot, if its not already!!!! see pic above for the first instalment!

and lastly for those of you who read the fine print, I was interviewed late last year for The Age and I think my interview will appear in the property section of The Age this (whoops, wrong date - next weekend!!) weekend - hope its good! xx

still contemplating the study/desk area

source - Emma Reddington

Big note to self: must get mini rug/lambs wool to drape over my office chair - HOT HOT HOT.

oh by the way - the office area that was suppose to be complete at my place is not - after much deliberation we have decided to have one built in to fit the space perfectly and provide the necessary storage. This is after looking and looking for the perfect desk and storage unit and not finding it ANYWHERE! I have decided on a dark wall in the study and a huge moodboard. keep you updated....

my work space

it's a bit crazy around here at the moment, with kids still on school holidays - it means that I am pretty much doing my work in the evening. Which is fine, but I am looking forward to things getting back into routine in the next couple of weeks. And with two out of three darlings at school this year, I am going to be further exploring the world of interiors and styling...............It's going to be a busy year, I am doing some work for Barry Plant Real Estate and also colour plans for some builders/renovators and then some moodboards for clients along the way who wish to update their space. I am also picking up another subject in the first half of the year at school - so that's 4 subjects this year!!!
but right now I am working on a couple of exciting rooms, so I thought I would give you a sneak peak at the state of my work space - I never seem to have enough space!

Heather Nette King - Super Stylist does The Design Files AGAIN!

now this post is going to inspire you to do wonders - if this does not show you that anything is possible with a little creativity and of course a can of paint then nothing will. This is the home of the very very talented Heather Nette King featured today on The Design Files. As you all know I was lucky enough to do some work experience with this talented lady. She leads the way with a paint brush and her ideas are ultra cool - the biggest things I took away from my time with Heather is to not be afraid of paint - the amount of colour/change her walls have seen is truly amazing - its only paint as the old saying goes. The other is to stop talking "about it" and just "do it"...........famous last words. I will be forever grateful for her time with me.

this is Heather's Master bedroom "before" - very cool - mag pictures of roses all different all adhered to the wall. Who said you cant do pink in your bedroom!

this is her bedroom now - rose pictures removed - coat of paint - of course! and a new painting, which I so adore and, look, transformation!

beautiful bentwood chairs painted blue in the dining room

her daughter's bedroom - I want those LOVE pillow cases!

be sure to check out the rest of her house here and her delightful blog is always inspiring.

First Room Makeover for 2012

I put together this moodboard for a Master Bedroom Makeover. The flavour of the room is Chic and Cheerful - it is quite a large room with a beautiful bay window which is perfect for this this chair. We are working with the current bed which is black cast iron - we are going to add texture through the bedlinen in white and natural linen tones - with a splash of pink in the IKAT Cushions from here. I am also planning on making a feature of the side tables and lamps which will be covered in a Florence Broadhurst Japanese inspired fabric that will hang from the ceiling. One bedside table will be pink and the other will be white (for the man of the house!) I have also incorporated a vintage poster for some Chic Fun!

I am working on some other rooms at the moment - stay tuned......
