Decor8 Blogging Your Way

I am so excited, I am into week two of Holly Becker's, actually week three of her Blogging Your Way E-course. The content is amazing, and the tips and hints are so valuable. I am loving every minute of it so far, just trying to fit it all in to this crazy busy life of mine at the moment!!!

I have been on her wait list for some time and every time it popped up, the timing just wasn't right - but this time the timing was perfect and here I am blogging my way....Holly and Leslie are creatively amazing, they have done so many work shops at Anthropologie, and her course now includes that content, she is the queen of mood boards, a girl after my own heart, but for now, I am just soaking up all her inspiration...............

Jarden Furniture

I seriously have a crush on Jarden furniture, I love the lines, the colours, the style and the simplicity of their designs - I also love that they are Australian made, in fact melbourne designed and made. I am working on a makeover at the moment and I am serioulsy considering the Jarvis range. Check out their website here

this week

lots of exciting things going on with Gold Chalk at the moment - some re branding, postcards and business cards being designed then sent off to the printers, will share more of that with you later.....

Last week I styled a house for sale - It took 5 hours to do the whole house (it's a largish one at that) and it was so exhilarating, I enjoyed every minute of it, and although it was hard work, it didn't really feel like work. The outcome was amazing, we didn't have to hire anything, just some new linen etc, I bought some "stylists own" props!!! and the greenery was sourced from my place, I wish the owners luck with the sale - fingers crossed, it is a beautiful home. You can check it out here.

moodboards

I put these mood boards together for a friend of mine looking to re-style her living room, she does not like colour, so I have chosen to add texture to her room to give it some interest, I have also opted for some round items to soften the room as it has lots of straight lines. hope she likes it...

if you would like me to create a moodboard for your room or your entire home please feel free to contact me, its a really affordable way to live the look you want, I can supply the shopping list and you can shop it at your leisure or I can do it for you.

House and Garden top 50 rooms for 2011

here is my pick of The House and Garden top 50 Rooms - number one room for me has to be the Cinema Room by the very talented Arent & Pyke - love this duo and what a fab room, so not predictable, and beautiful use of colour - love those side tables!!! (refer to the top image) and the other three are just rooms that ticked all the boxes for me. Doesn't the last one remind you of Abigail Ahern????? You can vote for your favorite room here.

My "IT" coffee table!

the store in Collingwood

the most perfect Loom Rug

POPs of yellow - need I say anything more!
that's me in the reflection

STOP, the hunt is over! I have been working on a little makeover for my very own lounge area - a couple of key items have been on the must add list, a rug, coffee table, side tables and a new piece or artwork. Well, finally it seems to be coming together. I popped into here the other day and found the "IT" coffee table, perfect for my little area, the Loom Rug is still on the wish list, and at $4000, I am thinking I will have to keep searching........ooh well, at least the coffee table is headed my way - its super low, hugely round and has the most divine rusted steel legs, super cool, I think anyway. More on the side tables and artwork later......

flowers make me happy

I took this photo because I loved the actual flowers which made there way to my place and because the combination of colors drove me crazy mad with inspiration!!!!!

just love some good merchandising

always on the look out for a POP of yellow@!

inside the front window at the new TYPO store in Doncaster!

While I was out and about recently two stores really took my fancy - The first one was the new Typo store in Doncaster - watch out Kikki K and Smiggle, these guys are great and not to mention affordable - got to love that!

The second one was the T2, my favorite tea store of all time, I can get lost in this store, not from the tea so much but from the way they dress their stores, I love their use of colour and I want their Chinese lanterns!!!!......anyway i digress slightly, I recently fell in love with with their new point of sale ticketing - small magnetic mood boards - how cool!

the Life of a Styling Assistant!

I was lucky enough to assist the very talented Heather Nette King a couple of weeks ago for styling shoot number 2. The desk Heather choose on the day was divine, it is available from here, but you may need to save up for it! I loved the colours we used and I got to choose the flowers for the shot. The wallpaper was amazing, but ooh so expensive. It was another great day, the life of a stylist is so very busy and varied, the days are long and quite hands on, from painting to unpacking, to packing up, down on all fours and working well into the evening - no two days are the same - which is what I loved. I feel so lucky to have got some hands on experience and to see what really goes on behind the scenes - every stylist needs an exceptional photographer and any shots you see in magazines are never how they really appear. I picked up lots of tricks from the trade!!!!!!!!! but I guess most importantly I have learnt to get myself out there and not be afraid, JUST DO IT, and stop talking about doing it!!!
